Service Learners

At Collier High School, our Service Learning group is dedicated to supporting the local community through diverse volunteer efforts and projects. Participating in service learning benefits those in need and encourages personal growth, interpersonal development, communication, and leadership skills among our students.

Recent Projects:

Friends of Jackson Woods Beautification Project: Collier service learners planted over 600 daffodil bulbs for the Friends of Jackson Woods in the fall. In the spring, students returned to plant flowers and install a refurbished wheelbarrow turned into a piece of art. With help from Collier's Building Trades students, they repaired and painted the wheelbarrow, using it to plant sunflowers grown in our school's greenhouse. The addition delighted Jackson Woods, and our students were thrilled to see their "Collier Garden" flourish.

Toys4Tots & Coat Drives: During the holiday season, Collier service learners collected toys and winter jackets for children and families in need through the Coastal Communities Family Success Center. Students wrapped and organized the donations for distribution.

Coastal Communities Family Success Center: Students assisted with seasonal maintenance and beautification efforts, helping to keep the center welcoming and well-maintained.

Project Paul: Collier service learners prepared bags of food and donated clothing and housewares to Project Paul, supporting the local community.

Turn-Around Sale: Collier hosts the Turnaround Sale yearly, offering students the chance to buy donated items like toys, clothes, and jewelry for just a dollar for every five items. Service learners organized and ran the event, managing the register, money, and items sold. Proceeds support CHS senior scholarships through the PTO.
